Animates is an Educational Outreach company that brings science education to your very own school or preferred venue. Set up in 2005 and under new ownership, Animates offers workshops to suit all ages and abilities. If you are looking for a science related topic for example endangered species, habitat adaptation, life cycles or a new topic which we can create for your classroom then we may be able to give you an educational class with a difference. Our workshops are based around the Environmental Science aspect of the National Curriculum, in particular Living Things.

Animates uses live animal guests to bring the animal kingdom to your classroom in a real way. We have Keenai the Chinese Water Dragon whose natural habitat is the rainforest of Southern Asia, how will this species and others like it survive as our beautiful rainforests are being destroyed. Pog the Australian Bearded Dragon whose natural habitat is the Australian deserts, this species has adapted to live in the harsh desert environment which seems so different from our life in Scotland. These are just a couple of the animals that Animates uses; others include tarantulas, snakes and crabs.

Alongside living creatures we also focus on endangered species such as the African and Asian Elephants which are the largest land mammals being poached for their tusks, skin and other by-products. Animates works closely with HM Revenue and Customs to bring seized animal artefacts to the classroom to discuss why we don’t want to buy these products on holiday and the effect the illegal trade is having on these amazing creatures.

Animates prides itself on bringing an educational, hands-on learning experience to enhance the classroom sessions already being taught. In this present climate we are becoming more and more aware of the planet and its inhabitants; we just need to make the children who are our future more aware of their surroundings and to protect it.

Animates is based in Rosyth, Fife and will travel to schools all across Scotland. When travelling to schools we give 20 miles of free travel and then anything after that is charged at 40p a mile.
